Catechism
Classes
Through catechism, we learn the foundations of the Christian faith and the distinctives that shape Anglican worship and life.
Catechism classes at Christ’s Chapel exist to ground people in the basics of the Christian faith while also introducing the distinctives of the Anglican tradition. These classes are designed for those who are new to Christianity, those exploring Anglicanism, and longtime believers who desire a deeper and more structured understanding of what the Church teaches and confesses.
Each year, we offer a twelve-class catechism course beginning in August, which prepares candidates for confirmation. Over the course of these sessions, we study the foundations of the faith as they are drawn from Holy Scripture and received by the Church—who God is, what Christians believe, how we pray, and how faith shapes daily life. Alongside this, participants are introduced to the Anglican way of being Christian, including our use of the Book of Common Prayer, the creeds, the sacraments, and the rhythm of worship that forms us over time.
Catechism is not merely about acquiring information, but about being formed as disciples. Classes are taught in a patient and welcoming environment where questions are encouraged and faith is nurtured through learning, prayer, and conversation.
